This is so horrible and so sad.

A bomb went off in Oslo, Norway today, ripping through buildings including the Prime Minister's office.

Horribly, that's not the only incident. Just outside the city, a man dressed as a police officer opened fire at youngsters at a youth camp connected to the ruling party.

It looks like the situations are connected, and sadly it has left at least 7 dead and more injured.

Police Inspector Bjoern Erik Sem-Jacobsen said a suspect in the shooting has been arrested. He said the gunman, who was dressed as a police officer, pulled out a gun and started firing into the crowd of youths. There were unconfirmed reports that five people were wounded in that shooting.

A square in Oslo, where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded, was covered in twisted metal, shattered glass and documents expelled from surrounding buildings, which house government offices and the headquarters of some of Norway's leading newspapers. Most of the windows in the 20-floor high-rise where Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and his administration work were shattered.

The damage in downtown Oslo was the result of "two or more bombs," but there aren't many specifics yet.

The Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg, who was working from home today luckily, has urged the country not to be afraid, because this kind of violence strives to strike fear.

We support that thought, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't show caution. Be alert and BE SAFE!

It's just absolutely despicable that things like this happen, and there are humans out there capable of doing it. Absolutely atrocious.

Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been rocked by this horrible happening.

The TomKat family — Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri — spent part of their weekend in South Beach, FL chillin’ out by the pool together. As you can see from the photos below, daddy Tom spent some time teaching his TomKitten how to swim while mama Katie lounged near the pool. It looks like the fam had a blast soaking up the sun together as they relaxed on holiday.

As much grief as I like to give Tom, Katie and Suri, I’m happy to see them looking so happy. The family may have started out under very strange circumstances but they seem to have weathered the controversy just fine and have settled into a life of normalcy. I’m actually relieved that Tom isn’t spouting his craziness in public anymore (tho, he did provide amazing fodder for the blog over the years) because now I can go back to liking him again. Is that wrong? In any event, these photos of the TomKat family chillin’ out at the pool are just cute. While I’m still not 100% convinced that Suri isn’t a robot, I will say she makes a very cute little cyborg-like alien child … who is, apparently, waterproof. So darling!

Soap Dish: Big Changes At Days Of Our Lives General Hospital

Changes they are a coming to two of the last four daytime soap operas on air. It has been one heck of a week for Days Of Our Lives and General Hospital consisting of some serious hirings and firings. Both Days and GH ditched their current head writers in favor of some not so well known writers. DOOL has hired two writers from Passions while GH promoted someone from within. Although I don’t disagree with the decisions to get rid of Dena Higley and Bob Guza I do have to wonder though with so many really good head writers out of work why not pick one of them, just a thought. Here is hoping these newbies don’t mess up my shows any more than they already are, after all we are trying to save our soaps right? Along with the behind the scenes changes comes the firing of one of my favorite GH men and return of one of my all time favorite DOOL guys. Last night David and I joined our dear friend Emma at Señor Fred in Studio City, CA to help her celebrate her birthday! The last minute dinner was made up of some of Emma’s closest friends and we all had a fun time just hanging out together. To be honest, I always have a great time hanging out with Emma and Josh but it was extra fun getting together for her birthday last night.

The food and drink was great but the real draw was celebrating our love for Emma. David and I have made some really fantastic friends here in SoCal over the years but Emma and Josh are the first couple that we met together as a couple. Words can not express how much we love them both.

Tonight, David and I will be meeting up with Darion and the 3 of us will be heading out to the Hollywood Bowl to see Kylie Minogue in concert. David and I got to see Kylie live in Berlin on her Les Folies Tour 2011 last March but this will be our first time seeing the Aphrodite Live 2011 version of the tour. We are all SO excited!! It’s going to be an amazing night! Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!

Very few reporters and anchors have come out as being gay to the public while still performing their duties. Not only that, but even fewer have written books about their lives in a completely open fashion, despite fears of being shunned and public backlash.

This is what makes Don Lemon so inspirational.

It might have taken him 45 years (he looks much younger, mind you!) to come out publicly (literally to the public, close friends and family have known, including some coworkers at CNN), but he is not holding back any longer. His book tell of his struggle as a gay man reporting the news in the public eye, and having been molested as a child. Nothing is too personal.

And it took him a while to come to that point, there were definitely hesitations. But, as a reporter through and through, he felt it was his duty to hold himself, his own story, to that journalistic standard and give everyone the whole, unfiltered story:

“I’m scared. I’m talking about something that people might shun me for, ostracize me for. It’s quite different for an African-American male. It’s about the worst thing you can be in black culture. You’re taught you have to be a man; you have to be masculine. In the black community they think you can pray the gay away.

I abhor hypocrisy. I think if you’re going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth, of trying to shed light in dark places, then you’ve got to be honest. You’ve got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else.”

We are definitely behind you 100% in your decision to write this book. The strength it has taken to do so can't be calculated, and we support you!

Not only that, but, it's wonderful to hear that you support others in the gay community coming out:

“I think it would be great if everybody could be out. But it’s such a personal choice. People have to do it at their own speed. I respect that. I do have to say that the more people who come out, the better it is for everyone, certainly for the Tyler Clementis of the world.”

We hear that, Don. It was such a tragedy what happened to Tyler, who tragically committed suicide after his roommate leaked footage of a homosexual encounter on the web.

You truly are someone to look up to, and we applaud you! Hope the book, Transparent, does well!

On Wednesday, outgoing Chicago Mayor Richard Daley gave another departing Chicago institution, Oprah Winfrey, a civic version of a parting gift: Her own street. Daley, who will leave office next week after more than 22 years, honored Winfrey by naming a block in front of Harpo Studios “Oprah Winfrey Way.” Winfrey is ending her own two-decade-plus run as host of her Chicago-based television show. “Your presence in Chicago has been a gift …” Daley said, moments before the cover was pulled off the sign that stands in front of the studio’s main entrance, calling Winfrey “a great ambassador for our city.” Winfrey was equally effusive about Daley and her adopted hometown. “I just want to say thank you to the mayor and also to the city of Chicago for embracing me and allowing me to take a stand and make a stand here in this city,” said Winfrey. Winfrey is the latest of well over 1,200 celebrities, religious leaders, activists and others who have been honored with street signs in Chicago. The list includes Michael Jordan, Siskel and Ebert, Frank Sinatra — who has two — and the geniuses behind Chicago-style hot dogs and pizza. More than 100 people crowded onto the block and dozens more stood behind police barricades that blocked both ends of the street in one of the best attended ceremonies since the city started honoring people with the signs in the early 1980s … Winfrey told the crowd about coming to Chicago in 1984 to host a morning talk show, “A.M. Chicago,” and how she fell in love with the city and decided quickly that if she didn’t get the job she would find a job, perhaps in advertising, just so she could stay. Winfrey said having a street named after her was “better than an Oscar or an Emmy.” “It is really just a full circle, miracle story,” she said, “that a little colored girl born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, on a red dirt road ends up with my name on a street in the greatest city in the world, Chicago.”

I mean … Oprah has countless awards, massive amounts of money, her OWN television network … why not add a street to her collection of accomplishments. I can’t say that I’m at all surprised that Oprah got her own street name … in fact, I wouldn’t even be surprised if the entire city of Chicago were renamed after her. There is no doubt, Oprah Winfrey has enjoyed HUGE success in Chicago and she has shared much of her success with the city that has been so good to her. After 25 years in the biz there, it totally makes sense that Chicago, IL is now home to Oprah Winfrey Way.

Gilbert O'Sullivan has been largely ignored by most pop music critics; his early image perhaps alienating a sizable portion of them with its contrived, down-at-heel urchin look - not a fashion statement that has stood the test of time. What has stood the test of time in my view is the quality of some of his songwriting, along with the clean and natural vocal style he employed. Aaron Eckhart has signed on to play dasterdly Hook in Pan, the newly reimagined flick of J.M. Barrie's timeless story, Peter Pan. This movie is said to be much darker than previous adaptations of the story and it will be taking a more modern approach to the tale. In fact, Captain Hook isn't even a pirate!

In this version, Aaron's plays a former detective who is chasing a "notorious and childlike kidnapper" (TWIST!), who gets help from a girl named Wendy (Soul Surfer star AnnaSophia Robb), who is the only child to escape capture.

So Peter is the fiend and Hook is the hero? Inneresting!
